Happy holiday interiors
This month Julie Handforth-Doidge looks at campervan and caravan refurbishments.
With the turbulent times of late and an emphasis on the staycation, what better way to enjoy the amazing places to visit in the UK than in your campervan. Whether towed or static, now is the perfect time to make the most of it and spend some time with loved ones and relax. However, you might find that your van is in need of some attention. I have worked on so many projects refurbishing all kinds of mobile holiday homes… from campervans to boats!
Back to basics holidays are very trendy these days allowing us time to switch off and relax. To maximise your enjoyment make sure the interior of your camper or caravan is up to scratch and comfortable. There is nothing worse than spending time in a tired interior when you are needing to recharge.
Some of our customers have come to us with beautiful vintage VW campervans in need of a total interior makeover and lots of TLC. Whereas others have more modern day campervans that just require a fabric uplift. With so many fabrics to choose from here at JHD Interiors, we have something to suit every project and taste.
Often the older caravans can look a little tired and I thoroughly enjoy breathing new life into them. Contrasting the fabrics into the upholstery, curtains and blinds brings the new interior to life. A great trend that we have got involved with recently is shepherd huts… now that is glamping at a high level.
One of the biggest issues we tend to find with holiday homes is the foam within the base cushions. After time they lose their support and become compressed. It is so important to change this at regular intervals, just like a mattress. You really do need to be sitting comfortably if you are going to relax on your holiday. With a huge range of foams available on the market with different properties and densities it is important to select the best one for you.
We can custom make an array of curtains and blinds, such as Venetian, roller, Roman and vertical, to compliment your interior and allow you that privacy, shade and functionality.
We can also introduce a twist of nostalgia with the right design choices. When I was a child we never had holidays abroad, we just explored the wonders of the UK and stayed in an array of caravans with interiors of orange, brown and olive green of the 70s. This classic look would pair beautifully with your vintage VW today to achieve that retro look with a modern twist.
If you think it is time for a makeover, pop along to see us or we can come to you for a hassle-free quote.
