For those of you who read my monthly column, you will know I am a mummy to beautiful Penelope and often share my tales of business and mum life. However, this month is all about the beauty of networking. Recently I hosted my very first event, the Spring Collective, alongside the very talented colour theory specialist, Evangeline at Vivaldi, and print scarf designer, Bella Singleton. Following such a positive response from attendees, we are aspiring to bring another seasonal collective in the near future. 

Since having Penelope, I’ve been really focused on diversifying my skill set as a businesswoman. With more than a decade of experience within the permanent makeup industry I love sharing my knowledge with other aspiring females, hence the creation of my business consultancy, Polly Means Business. 

As well as curating my first event, I am also enjoying attending other female networking events and continuing investing in myself. A highlight last month was jetting to Milan, Italy for a Biotek Permanent Makeup Conference – the home of where our equipment and pigments are manufactured. 

In the full flow of networking, last month I also headed to ‘The Big Smoke’ to attend an incredible networking event; Beauty and the Brand, located at The Strand Hotel London. Hosted by Brand Strategist, Fiona O’Sullivan and Roxy Resali, this was an opportunity for beauty professionals to explore how to elevate, align, and affirm their branding in today’s modern world. Listening to expert panellists definitely gives you long term energy and inspiration to take action within your own business. 

These types of networking events can be daunting to show up to alone, however are important for all businesses, whether you are in the embryonic stage of an idea, to owning a fully flourishing company, it’s great to hear everyone’s entrepreneurial journeys. We can all learn from each other. Connecting with other women who are investing and shining a light on their passions sets a strong standard for us all. My personal interest is uplifting females and giving them a voice – these meet ups really inspire me as a business consultant. On a personal note, Penelope has reached a milestone by learning to roll over, while my partner Sam has been an incredible source of support as I manage my work commitments. Having my family close by adds a sense of comfort and joy to my life. It was heartwarming to have both Sam and Penelope with me at my Collective event, we try to support one another in all aspects of our relationship. I want to express my gratitude to all the remarkable women who I have connected with recently. Many of you I have met, we have only had correspondence online, yet we come together as a unified force.
