A Good Person

I don’t know how to do this

Allison had the perfect life, the perfect fiancé, all leading up to a perfect future. But when Allison is involved in a car-accident that leads to the death of her future sister-in-law, that perfect future fades away. Her fiancé can’t be with her anymore and his family, including his father Daniel, played by Morgan Freeman, blame Allison for what happened. She spirals and tries to find peace at the bottom of a bottle. When things become too much, Allison seeks help and goes to an alcoholic’s support group and to her surprise, she finds Daniel there. Rather than letting her find another group to join, Daniel and Allison build up an unlikely connection as they both try to rebuild their lives. From Zach Braff, star of Scrubs and director/writer of the beloved Garden State, this film about finding the strength within yourself and understanding and accepting grief as it tries to consume you, is sure to be a winner with audiences.

Luther: The Fallen Son

Released: 10 March (Netflix)

I can live with what has to be done

It’s time to don the Harris tweed coat and put on that red tie because Luther is back and this time, he’s in a film. Now, you might be like me and think this is a bit of a let-down. Only a film?! I want a whole new series of Luther! But then the last series was only four episodes and the one before that was only two, so to be fair, a film is pretty much the same length. Expect the usual shocks and twists from Neil Cross as Idris Elba clashes with a new character played by Andy Serkis. The film starts with where Luther was left; in prison. But when another psychotic serial killer is on the loose, Luther thinks only he can catch them. So he er.. escapes from prison to save the day. I guess two wrongs make a right? But then with Luther about ten wrongs make a right.

You and I are going to get home

Adam Driver, that lovable rogue from the Star Wars’ sequel trilogy and powerful films such as Paterson and Marriage Story, stars in this film from the writers of A Quiet Place with what must have been one of the greatest elevator pitches of all time.

Adam is a space-pilot who crash lands on a mysterious planet. Ooooo… mysterious! But, wait – there’s more… He encounters dangerous dinosaurs. And there’s more! He realises that somehow, this mysterious planet is Earth, but 65 millions years ago! AND THERE’S MORE! There’s one other survivor, a little girl, all alone. Sheesh!

A crash-landing, a mysterious planet, dinosaurs, time-travel and a lost child. What a palaver! Adam Driver is going to have to protect her, not get eaten by dinosaurs and then find a way home. I hope he’s had his Weetabix.

Creed III

Released: 3 March

I need you to let of of your fear. Let go of the guilt. Let go of whatever was and walk into what is.

Michael B. Jordan returns as Adonis Creed, son of Rocky Balboa’s rival, Apollo Creed. After building a life for himself both in and out of the ring, Creed is thriving. But things take a turn when his childhood friend, Damian who himself was a former boxing prodigy, is released from prison. Damien wants to prove that he’s just as good as Creed, if not better. Clearly there’s more to this rivalry than just a boxing match. Damien has nothing to lose but Creed could lose everything. This time round, Michael B. Jordan is helming the director’s chair as well. It’s refreshing to see an actor give their all to a role in a three-quel rather just phoning it in for the pay-cheque. Expect a show-down for the ages.
