Lockdown Brows

Beauty expert Laura from lkcosmeticsclinic.co.uk shares her top tips to beat the lockdown brows.

With most of us in desperate need of some serious brow love after months of hibernation, I would love to share with you my tips on keeping those lockdown brows in shape until you can visit your brow specialist again. You will need a brow pencil, a brow spoolie or clean mascara wand and a brow fix product. Tweezers are optional if you are confident.

Firstly using your wand and brow fix product, brush your brow hairs up to reveal, and assess, any gaps. The fix liquid will ensure that your hairs stay in position all day long. Once you’ve identified any gaps, use your brow pencil to carefully draw in hair like strokes and fill in the gaps in the brow.

When styling brows I like to keep the pencil colour as close as I can get to the natural hairs to give the most realistic, yet fuller, finish. I also steer clear of being too heavy handed around the fronts of the brow as this can look a little severe and blocky. Instead concentrate on adding a few hairstrokes in the front of the brow to help fill out.

I would always recommend having your eyebrows shaped by a professional, however if you find you have a few strays that don’t sit in the body of the brow itself, you can carefully remove these with tweezers. A good stretch whilst doing this will ensure it’s not too painful!

In my clinic, LK Cosmetics, I am a stockist of the professional Brow range Eyebrow Queen. It is cruelty free and vegan friendly, and is a staple product in most makeup artist kits. Created by the original founder of HD Brows, Nilam Holmes. Nilam is one of the most recognised and trusted names in the Beauty Industry and her expertise and professionalism are valued by clients from all over the world including many celebrities, including Rochelle Humes, Alesha Dixon and Eva Longoria to name but a few. The collection includes the must have Brow Fix; just a drop of this waterproof serum ensures that those brows and brow makeup will stay in place all day long.

Try using a Brow Colour Fix which is a tinted fibrous gel and gives colour to lacklustre brows and builds up texture from the fibres. Whilst good quality brow pencils have a tapered end to draw in realistic hairstrokes and a spoolie on the other end to brush brows into place. Using these products at home will give you the next best thing to a professional salon finish. Making sure you look your best until you can secure your next appointment.

The UK brow market alone is worth a staggering £20 million. Along with brow makeup products, there are popular services such as microblading, semi permanent makeup, tinting, threading, waxing and the ever popular HD Brows treatments. Along with the new on trend Brow Lamination Service, which sees eyebrows brushed up and set into a gorgeous full fluffy brow, think Cara Delavigne but softer. So whether you have overplucked eyebrows from the 90’s or brows that grow out of control, there is a solution for us all.

At my clinic I offer many different brow services to suit every need; HD Brows, brow lamination, microblading and semi permanent makeup for brows.

After working as a makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics, I found my passion for brows and have specialised in this area for the last 10 years. My boutique salon LK Cosmetics is located on Bridewell Alley in the historic Norwich Lanes. Consultations are available at the clinic to discuss the overall look you would like to achieve and discover a suitable bespoke brow service to suit you. So go on, give me a call and we can beat those lockdown brows together.
