What’s On – Platinum Jubilee
2022 is the year of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. To commemorate this historic milestone, a series of events and initiatives will be held throughout Norfolk and Suffolk to celebrate the occasion and leave an enduring legacy for our county.
Hoveton Hall –

Dersingham –
Jubilee Jamboree
4 June, 1950s-themed evening, live music, street party style meal, starting at 6:30pm, entry by advance booking, ticket required. 83 Manor Road, Dersingham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, PE31 6JS.
Caston Street Lunch Party
5 June, “Bring and share, leave nothing there”, village street lunch party in front of the village hall from 12pm-4pm. The Street, Caston, Attleborough, Norfolk.
Wells-next-the-Sea Jubilee Street Party
5 June, Street party including sideshows, stalls, funfare and music. The Buttlands, Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, NR23 1EU.
A Royal Salute
A special musical celebration of Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne, devised by David Stowell and Peter Wilson, featuring the talents of over 1,600 of Norfolk’s schoolchildren, a chorus of 150 voices, the 60-strong Norfolk Music Hub Ensemble, Norca Sistema’s Samba band, the Norfolk African Choir, and including two specially commissioned original pieces of music.
There will be 2 performancesat the Norfolk Showground on Wednesday 29 June at 5:20pm and Thursday 30 June at 5pm. Entry is free from 4pm.
Jubilee Trails
When the ideas of how to commemorate Her Majesty’s Jubilee were being considered, a recurring theme was how to incorporate many of the elements that have been identified as important in the Jubilee celebrations. These include accessibility to the natural world, encouraging exercise and outdoor experience, resulting in the potential education and well-being benefits. The development of the Jubilee trails seemed a perfect way to meet all these objectives. There are four trails currently in preparation: Heacham to King’s Lynn, Gressenhall to Dereham, Great Yarmouth to Lowestoft and Gayton to Castle Acre.
Challenge Awards
The Platinum Jubilee Norfolk Challenge Awards will be given to those people who are making a significant contribution to the Norfolk community as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations and beyond. They have been developed in tribute to the late Duke of Edinburgh, whose own Award scheme has been so influential on the lives of generations of young people.
Each participant or group is required to complete these four challenges:
– Being active in Norfolk (The physical challenge)
– Protecting our environment (The sustainability challenge)
– Learning legacy (The learning challenge)
– Celebrating the Jubilee (The community challenge)
